About Kylemore Abbey and Role Overview

Kylemore Abbey, situated on the active Benedictine monastery estate in Connemara, County Galway, Ireland, is a leading heritage and visitor attraction along the Wild Atlantic Way. We are inviting applications for the position of History Guide to become a vital member of our Visitor Experience Department.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver informative daily history presentations and conduct private guided tours within our heritage buildings.
• Assist with historical research supporting our exhibitions and artefacts.
• Contribute to daily upkeep and custodial care of exhibits and the collection.
• Support the execution of seasonal events and activities.

Candidate Requirements

• Demonstrated interest in local history.
• Energetic, diligent work ethic.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills with proficiency in spoken English.
• Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
• Ability to independently manage tasks and collaborate effectively within a dynamic team environment.
• Flexibility to adapt to a lively and fast-changing workplace.
