The Role
This newly established position calls for a proactive IT professional to serve as the primary contact for all IT-related concerns at our Lorneville Plant in Invercargill. You will deliver hands-on support, efficiently resolve incidents, and ensure our onsite technology systems operate without interruption. While based locally, you will maintain close collaboration with the wider Technology team based in Christchurch, yet operate independently in day-to-day matters.
- Serve as the initial contact for IT issues and service requests via phone, email, and face-to-face interactions.
- Record, prioritize, and manage incidents and service tickets within the IT service management system.
- Provide both first and second-level support for hardware, software, network, and access-related problems.
- Set up, configure, and deploy laptops, desktops, and mobile devices as required.
- Diagnose and resolve technical faults promptly, escalating complex issues to appropriate teams when necessary.
- Support on-site technological equipment including scanners, printers, handheld devices, and production floor hardware.
- Oversee management of user accounts, permissions, and access in compliance with company protocols.
- Maintain accurate asset inventories, conduct hardware audits, and assist with system patching and updates.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure and Application teams to escalate issues and support technology projects and rollouts.
- Develop strong relationships across the site and communicate technical information effectively to non-technical staff.
About You
The ideal candidate will combine practical IT expertise with a customer-oriented approach and a proactive attitude towards addressing technological challenges and user support.
- Minimum of 1 year in a similar IT support capacity.
- Solid knowledge of operating systems, Microsoft 365, and standard business applications.
- Experience with device building, deploying, imaging processes, and foundational networking concepts.
- Proficient in troubleshooting a broad spectrum of hardware and software issues.
- Good understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Self-driven with the ability to effectively prioritize workload.
- Strong dedication to customer service combined with a collaborative team approach.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
- A positive, solution-focused mindset and eagerness to learn.
