A confidential client based in New York, NY is looking for a Junior Data Engineer / Junior Data Scientist to join their IT team. This entry-level position is well suited for recent graduates or individuals early in their careers who have academic project experience related to data analysis, SQL, or data engineering. The role involves collaborating with senior engineers to develop and maintain data pipelines, extract meaningful insights, and support analytics workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Support data acquisition, cleaning, and transformation tasks to facilitate reporting and analysis.
• Create and optimize SQL queries to extract and manipulate data efficiently.
• Assist in the development and upkeep of data pipelines and database systems.
• Work closely with senior team members to analyze data sets and deliver actionable insights.
• Maintain thorough documentation of procedures, data definitions, and contribute to ongoing process improvements.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience from academic projects involving data analysis, database design, ETL processes, or related fields.
• Proficient in SQL with strong practical knowledge.
• Understanding of key concepts in data structures, algorithms, and relational database systems.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual base salary between $60,000 and $65,000 for the New York, NY location.
