Role Summary

We are seeking a Junior Mechanical Designer to be part of our Thunder Bay, Ontario office. This full-time permanent position involves performing design tasks of moderate simplicity by applying established engineering methods under direct supervision. Precision in design and thorough documentation are crucial.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in on-the-job training and mentorship from senior designers and engineers.
• Identify design criteria for minor structures, equipment, and systems, and develop specifications guided by established manuals.
• Address minor engineering challenges and produce conceptual sketches for drafters.
• Prepare standard inputs for computerized engineering problem-solving tools.
• Primarily work within an engineering office environment.
• Make decisions within set company standards and procedures.
• Operate under detailed supervision with clearly communicated instructions on methods and protocols.
• Ensure complex designs are reviewed during progression and verify all outputs upon completion.
• Offer occasional guidance to less experienced colleagues on shared tasks.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned.
• Create technical documentation utilizing AutoCAD Plant 3D and Revit software.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical and multidisciplinary teams.
• Develop and review CAD drawings in line with project and client specifications.

Qualifications

• Completion of a technical college program with up to four years of practical experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency in computer-aided engineering design applications is essential.

• Salary range expected is between 54600 and 82150 CAD annually.
