Role Overview
The Stores & Inventory Control Lead manages all storekeeping functions across multiple construction sites and central facilities. This senior leadership role ensures the proper handling, stock management, documentation, and optimal use of materials, tools, and equipment to support projects efficiently with minimal waste. The role also encompasses hiring, training, evaluating, and continuously developing storekeepers while enforcing standardized systems, policies, and digital workflows throughout AMANA's operating regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct all storekeepers across projects and central warehouses.
- Lead recruitment and competency assessments for storekeepers to maintain high standards.
- Create and deploy structured training programs covering inventory management, ERP systems, safety, and material handling.
- Conduct regular performance reviews to drive continuous enhancement.
- Formulate and enforce policies ensuring accurate receipt, inspection, storage, and issuance of materials aligned with company standards.
- Carry out audits ensuring stock accuracy matches ERP and digital records.
- Maintain organized storage layouts and housekeeping protocols to improve accessibility and safety.
- Perform audits to minimize waste, theft, and material expiry.
- Manage preservation standards for materials including cement, chemicals, tools, electrical/MEP components, and steel.
- Continuously improve storekeeping guidelines to boost efficiency, reduce delays, and better serve construction sites.
- Oversee integration and effective use of ERP and digital inventory management systems across stores.
- Provide real-time stock visibility to delivery, plant management, and procurement teams.
- Generate monthly reports on stock status, consumption patterns, aging inventory, and key performance indicators.
- Analyze supplier performance to aid procurement in updating supplier records.
- Evaluate and implement barcode or RFID systems and other technologies to enhance traceability and accuracy.
- Coordinate with Procurement to ensure efficient material transfer between sites, preventing unnecessary purchases or disposals.
- Develop early warning systems addressing overstocking, shortages, and urgent material demands.
- Support site teams with daily material planning, usage forecasting, and optimization methodologies.
- Conduct training on equipment management, diesel distribution, utilities management, and documentation for site teams.
- Collaborate with Plant & Logistics teams to maintain operational supplies and reduce downtime.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Implement procedures for the safe handling of hazardous materials and tools and perform audits on damaged or expired items.
- Regularly travel across UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other regions to monitor operations, engage with teams, and standardize best practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Graduate with a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a similar discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience managing inventory and stores in large-scale operational environments.
- Advanced proficiency with ERP platforms such as Oracle, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Sound understanding of construction materials, MEP consumables, equipment handling, and preservation.
- Strong analytical capabilities and effective communication and reporting skills.
- Proven leadership of diverse multi-regional teams with willingness to travel regularly.
