Job description

Position Overview

Located at 4951 - 110 Avenue SE, Calgary, this role requires a Machine Operator to work within the Production and Maintenance team. Responsibilities include operating machinery, executing automation and preventative maintenance activities, and ensuring minimal downtime alongside routine production tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and achieve all production efficiency targets.
  • Lead and support a team of helpers to meet production timelines, ensure completion, and uphold quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Food Safety and Sanitation teams to ensure automated equipment complies with regulatory requirements.
  • Operate machinery involved in grinding, extracting, mixing, blending, cooking, packing, or other food and beverage processing operations.
  • Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections of packaging equipment using established procedures and ensure machine calibration.
  • Set up equipment accurately for safe and proper functioning.
  • Document operations and generate production reports accurately.
  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and adjust production processes based on operational needs.
  • Manage and document inventory of department materials including consumables.
  • Adhere to Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Health and Safety policies strictly.
  • Comply with company policies to maintain highest product quality standards.
  • Follow Occupational Health and Safety regulations and use all required safety gear and equipment.
  • Report any workplace hazards to supervisors promptly.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification or relevant experience.
  • Between 6 months to 1 year of machinery operation experience in food processing, manufacturing, or service industry.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods including frequent bending, twisting, and walking.
  • Capability to work in refrigerated environments ranging 0°C to 4°C.
  • Physically able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong attention to detail to consistently identify potential food safety or quality issues.
  • Proficient in both spoken and written English communication.
  • Basic computer literacy.
