Manual Binding Operator

Role Overview

The Manual Binding Operator is responsible for executing manual binding tasks such as hard box production, hard bound book and hard cover making, alongside operating sewing and manual gluing machines. This position includes troubleshooting minor machine issues, coordinating with maintenance, and maintaining cleanliness of the printing press and equipment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Examine job orders detailing manual binding requirements.
• Perform various manual binding processes including assembling hard boxes, hard bound books, and hard covers.
• Operate sewing machines and manual gluing machines efficiently.
• Identify and resolve minor mechanical problems with sewing and gluing machinery.
• Liaise with the maintenance team to handle any equipment malfunctions.
• Keep the printing press and associated peripherals clean and organized.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least two years of practical experience as a manual binder in a printing press environment.
• Proven skills in crafting hard boxes, hard bound books, and hard covers.
• Familiarity with operating sewing and manual gluing machines.
• Certification from any printing technology program is required.
• Strong attention to detail with a creative approach.
• Technical understanding of printing machinery and binding techniques.
• Good communication abilities and teamwork skills.
