Role Summary
The Procurement Engineer will play a key role in developing and executing procurement strategies aimed at maximizing value, cutting costs, and ensuring operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in crafting and implementing procurement strategies to enhance value, minimize expenses, and improve efficiency.
- Analyze market trends and assess supplier performance to guide well-informed purchasing decisions.
- Work closely with internal teams to comprehend technical needs and align procurement activities accordingly.
- Take part in preparing and executing procurement plans that support organizational goals and operational excellence.
- Ensure adherence to procurement policies, procedures, and relevant industry standards.
- Assess supplier bids based on technical criteria, quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and dependable delivery schedules.
- Develop and sustain strong relationships with suppliers and internal partners to enhance service quality and minimize risks.
- Identify potential areas for cost reduction, value engineering initiatives, and process improvements.
- Keep accurate records of suppliers, materials, and procurement activities.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and quality benchmarks.
- Support adoption of best practices within procurement systems and processes.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts within the procurement function.
Required Qualifications
- Between 6 to 8 years of professional experience as a Procurement Engineer or Material Engineer, with preference for civil and architectural materials.
Core Skills and Competencies
- Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles, materials, and technical specifications.
- Capability to assess both technical and commercial aspects of supplier proposals.
- Familiarity with procurement processes, contract management, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with great attention to detail.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in ERP platforms, especially SAP.
- Organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines in dynamic environments.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience working with civil and architectural materials is advantageous.
