Role Overview

Nursery and early years teachers support and guide the growth of children aged between 2 months and 4 years, fostering their cognitive, physical, and social development to provide a strong base for lifelong learning. The ideal candidate is energetic, innovative, empathetic, and mature, capable of connecting effectively with children and adults alike.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and execute lesson plans and educational activities based on frameworks such as EYFS or alternative educational philosophies like Montessori, Reggio Emilia, or Steiner/Waldorf, aligning with nursery policies and aims.
• Observe, evaluate, and document each child's developmental progress regularly.
• Maintain comprehensive evaluation records to tailor learning strategies to individual children and update daily progress via the nursery's digital portal.
• Encourage and manage positive behavior standards among children and uphold these throughout the nursery environment.
• Organize the classroom layout and coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly activities in conjunction with the designated teacher assistant, following the curriculum.
• Collaborate consistently with the nursery team in planning monthly themes, activities, and special events.
• Maintain a calm, positive atmosphere with a gentle voice and promote this environment amongst staff.
• Ensure all safety and health protocols for children and staff are observed during all indoor and outdoor activities.
• Respond promptly and courteously to parental inquiries via the online platform (Brightwheel).
• Develop and sustain professional, positive relationships with parents and colleagues, fostering excellent conduct in all nursery settings.
• Demonstrate exemplary punctuality, attendance, professional behavior, and dress code adherence, contributing to the nursery’s esteemed reputation in the community.
• Lead by example with a positive and supportive demeanor, enhancing the nursery’s learning culture.
• Keep precise attendance records for all children.
• Participate actively in staff meetings and professional development training sessions.
