Position Overview
California State University, Bakersfield is seeking a full-time Outreach Coordinator to spearhead comprehensive outreach, recruitment, and enrollment activities aimed at increasing student access and enrollment. Reporting to the Director of Outreach and New Student Programs, this position independently plans, implements, and assesses recruitment initiatives, fosters partnerships, and manages budgets. The role also includes leading staff and supporting international recruitment efforts, working fully on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, coordinate, and evaluate outreach and recruitment strategies targeting undergraduate and transfer student populations aligned with institutional enrollment goals.
- Represent the university at various recruitment venues including college fairs, schools, and community organizations.
- Deliver presentations and information sessions to prospective students, families, counselors, and community partners on admissions, academic programs, financial aid, and student services.
- Target outreach initiatives to diverse and special populations such as first-generation and underserved students.
- Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with K-12 institutions, community colleges, and community organizations to bolster enrollment pathways.
- Collaborate with academic and student affairs departments to implement recruitment programs supporting institutional priorities.
- Participate in educational advisory committees and regional recruitment networks.
- Develop communication plans and marketing materials to enhance engagement and conversion of prospective students.
- Coordinate large-scale recruitment events, campus visits, and yield activities.
- Advise domestic and international prospective students on admissions and enrollment procedures.
- Analyze recruitment data to identify opportunities to improve outreach and enrollment outcomes.
- Lead outreach counselors and student staff by providing direction, training, and scheduling support.
- Manage recruitment budgets, monitor expenditures, and prepare financial reports.
- Collect and interpret outreach and enrollment data to evaluate program effectiveness and inform improvements.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in a related field with three years of progressively responsible professional student services experience, or equivalent education and experience (a master's degree may substitute for one year).
- Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one by hire date.
- Strong knowledge of individual and group behavior principles, student services programs, admissions, and enrollment management practices.
- Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide leadership and coordinate staff, managing complex assignments independently.
- Proficient in data analysis, budget tracking, and fiscal management.
- Capable of maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating professional customer service.
- Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and email.
- Willingness to travel and work occasional holidays or adjusted hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited institution preferred.
- Minimum of three years' relevant experience in outreach, recruitment, and enrollment.
- Experience in educational settings with a strong service-oriented approach.
Additional Information
- Position classified under union code R04 with a 12-month pay plan.
- Starting salary up to $5,540/month; salary range $5,540 to $7,893 monthly.

- Position requires full vaccination compliance and a background check.
- The role is designated as sensitive under CSU policies, requiring heightened scrutiny due to potential risks.
