Key Responsibilities

• Convert product development briefs into viable packaging concepts, including structure and manufacturing methods to support design intent.
• Create packaging solutions that harmonize user experience, technical practicality, sustainability, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with packaging suppliers to produce mock-ups, 3D models, and feasibility samples for concept validation.
• Evaluate design feasibility, highlight risks before design sign-off, and recommend mitigations.
• Ensure packaging concepts align with business goals prior to entering detailed development stages.
• Explore innovative mechanisms and decorative techniques, addressing complex technical or intellectual property challenges when needed.
• Manage end-to-end technical development from design through industrialization for assigned packaging projects.
• Prepare detailed packaging specifications, including components, fill & assembly instructions, and bills of materials.
• Facilitate supplier technical coordination covering tooling, drawings, specs, materials, and master data management.
• Engage in technical supplier discussions to guarantee packaging performance, manufacturability, and quality standards.
• Conduct packaging validation tests adhering to established protocols during product homologation and industrialization.
• Coordinate internal approvals for samples, boards, and artwork processes.
• Support manufacturing line trials with focus on fill and assembly readiness assessments.
• Assist procurement with supplier selection by leading technical evaluations.
• Maintain strong working relationships with packaging suppliers and contract manufacturers, managing product lifecycle coordination.
• Lead engineering changes, product transfers, and phase-in/phase-out activities related to packaging.
• Identify and escalate packaging-related risks concerning technical, quality, and supply aspects.
• Work closely with stakeholders across departments, driving packaging approval processes in product development meetings.
• Provide technical packaging data supporting regulatory compliance efforts.
• Contribute to quality issue investigations by delivering technical analyses and advice.
• Incorporate sustainability guidelines into packaging concepts emphasizing recyclability, recycled content, simplicity, and eco-friendly decoration.
• Support packaging change management with technical evaluations and validations.
• Help enhance packaging standards, documentation, development methods, and governance.
• Participate in value engineering, cost-saving measures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Keep thorough project documentation, technical records, and development trackers current throughout project duration.
• Ensure transparent communication of project progress, tasks, and technical outputs to all involved parties.
• Maintain comprehensive, accurate packaging documentation aligned with governance requirements.
• Develop and update understanding of manufacturing capabilities and decoration methods for primary and secondary packaging.
• Contribute to concept libraries, competitive benchmarking, and lessons learned to inform better future packaging development.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Industrial Design.
• At least two years in packaging design and engineering, ideally within the cosmetics sector.
• Strong expertise in packaging materials including glass, plastics, paper, and metals, along with decoration techniques; knowledge of DFM/DFA principles at entry or applied level.
• Practical experience with tooling, mold creation, packaging testing standards, and validation methods.
• Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Adobe Illustrator, and/or KeyShot software.
• Well-versed in global manufacturing environments and managing relationships with suppliers.
