We invite you to join our Engineering Team based in Dubai as a PLC Engineer, where you will be integral in delivering superior Baggage and Cargo Handling Systems from development through to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and commission PLC software in accordance with BHS/CHS protocols to ensure the high operational performance of the system, removing redundancies and fulfilling project specifications.
- Analyze mechanical layouts, electrical schematics, and control system drawings against project requirements, confirming that system functions and operations are feasible and timelines are met.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of Baggage/Cargo Handling Processes, Safety Systems, and interfaces with third-party components such as ATR, X-ray systems, Sorters, and Lifts.
- Develop comprehensive design documentation including Functional Design Specifications, Operator Manuals, and Training Materials elucidating system automation operations.
- Prepare commissioning documentation, including method statements, pre-commissioning checklists, test protocols, and commissioning plans.
- Collaborate with design teams, IT specialists, and Simulation Engineers addressing control system design aspects; focus on drive selection, fieldbus architecture, and safety to ensure functional requirements are satisfied during commissioning.
- Conduct and support various testing stages, coordinate with integration teams and stakeholders for system validation, deliver system training, and resolve issues effectively.
- Offer onsite support to optimize and enhance system operations for existing baggage and cargo handling projects.
- Engage actively in training on new products such as Baggage Base Logic, stay updated on technological advances, and contribute feedback to engineering and R&D teams.
- Review and peer-assess technical documents and low-level control estimates during bid preparations.
- Ensure all customer specifications are met and systems fulfill client operational needs.
- Adhere strictly to occupational health, safety, security, environment, and quality protocols as set in Project HSSE and Quality Plans.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electro-Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least five years of proven automation experience involving object-oriented software, programming, and commissioning using Siemens PLCs (Simatic Manager S7, TIA), Simatic Failsafe Systems, HMIs like WinCC Flexible, and drives such as Sinamics, MicroMaster, SEW, Nord, specifically in baggage or cargo handling systems.
- Practical experience with Siemens Simatic S7-400 and S7-1500 systems using Profibus and Profinet.
- Additional experience with WinCC, S7-400FH systems, and CFC programming is considered beneficial.
- Proficiency with software tools such as e-Plan and AutoCAD is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of mechanical equipment safety standards and fundamental electrical engineering principles is preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
