Role Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for defining, scoping, initiating, and steering substantial and high-risk departmental projects. This role supports both business and program management teams to successfully execute critical initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the complete lifecycle of complex, high-visibility projects, from definition through delivery and deployment.
- Manage multiple large-scale projects concurrently, often spanning various locations and interdependent tasks.
- Apply established project management methodologies to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet quality standards.
- Define project methodology, establish scope, and set clear objectives for each initiative.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to agree on project constraints and resources, ensuring realistic cost and timeline forecasts.
- Continuously identify and monitor project risks, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
- Ensure all project outcomes align with business requirements and deliver intended value.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, work schedules, estimates, resource allocations, conversion timelines, and status reporting.
- Oversee IT infrastructure and IT Service Management projects, aligning them with operational and business goals.
- Work closely with technical and operational teams to enhance service reliability, disaster recovery, high availability, and cloud initiatives.
Professional Skills and Competencies
- Expertise in project delivery and risk management.
- Strong communication skills tailored to project environments.
- Experience managing third-party and vendor relationships.
- Knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks and ITIL processes.
- Familiarity with concepts and tools related to service reliability, disaster recovery, and high availability.
- Understanding of cloud platforms and cloud service models.
- Prior experience in managing IT projects within an IT Service Management context.
Certifications and Qualifications
- Possession of PMP or an equivalent Project Management certification is advantageous, though not mandatory.
Required Experience
- Three to four years of effective project management experience.
- Proven track record in managing IT and Service Management projects.
- Experience leading geographically distributed teams.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver projects within defined timeframes and budgets.
- Working knowledge of service reliability, ITIL/IT Service Management, disaster recovery, high availability, and cloud computing concepts.
Compensation and Benefits
The expected salary range is between 60 and 70 Canadian dollars per hour. Optional benefits may include medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
