Retail Inventory Consultant

About the Role

Toast develops technology solutions aimed at aiding restaurants and other local businesses succeed in the digital environment by assisting them in operations, sales expansion, customer engagement, and employee satisfaction.

The Retail Inventory Consultant position is part of the Retail Team focused on expanding sales and customer service capabilities to retail clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner closely with Retail Onboarding Consultants to gather and migrate inventory and item data from previous POS systems into Toast's platform, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
• Conduct Item Library Review sessions with customers before installation and launch to confirm system understanding.
• Support customers during their initial 30 days post-onboarding by providing guidance, troubleshooting, and additional training as needed.
• Act as the inventory relationship manager throughout the sales and onboarding phases, operating mostly independently under guidance from an Onboarding Manager.
• Manage multiple inventory consultations simultaneously, often with 45 or more retail businesses in a region, balancing customer needs and company priorities.

Experience and Skills Required

• Minimum 4 years in roles focused on customer satisfaction and business operations, including managing ongoing customer relationships.
• At least 2 years of experience with Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and inventory analysis in retail, food and beverage, or hospitality sectors.
• One year or more in project management or implementation roles dealing with cross-functional teams and multiple simultaneous tasks.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and formula usage.
• Familiarity with project management tools like Salesforce, Asana, and Google Workspace, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment with competing demands.
• Strong communication and influence skills necessary to meet and exceed objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of POS systems and retail workflows, particularly from hospitality or retail SaaS experience.
• Experience in technology or SaaS companies.
• Background in training, teaching, or development roles.
• Experience in sales and handling customer objections.
• Residency within the Pacific or Mountain time zones is advantageous.

The company offers a competitive total rewards package including base salary, bonuses, equity, and benefits, tailored by geographic zones:

• Zone A: $75,000–$120,000
• Zone B: $65,000–$104,000
• Zone C: $59,000–$94,000
