Senior Associate Automation/DevOps Engineer

The Automation/DevOps Engineer role for a Senior Associate with 5-10 years of experience is based in Bangalore or Hyderabad and aims to ensure the reliability and safety of deployed AI agents and automations used in client environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of evaluation strategies and guardrails to maintain trustworthy AI agent behavior in production.
• Manage incident response for agent-related issues, conducting blameless postmortems and driving systemic improvements.
• Oversee monitoring and optimization of operational costs and token usage.
• Define and enforce criteria to transition agents through autonomy levels: shadow, assist, supervised, to autonomous.
• Establish telemetry and tracing standards for deployed agents to enhance observability.
• Develop human-in-the-loop processes and escalation protocols within the runtime organization.
• Collaborate closely with build and deployment teams to resolve reliability challenges at the development source.
• Mentor associate engineers on evaluating and operating agentic systems.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum 6 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, operations, or machine learning engineering with at least 2 years managing production ML or large language model (LLM) systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python programming and a solid understanding of logs, metrics, and trace analysis.
• Expertise in evaluation and monitoring methods specific to non-deterministic AI systems.
• Experience with incident management, on-call leadership, and safety tooling including guardrails and service level objectives.
• Familiarity with observability tools and telemetry platforms such as Langfuse, LangSmith, Datadog, and OpenTelemetry.
• Good understanding of agent behavior failure modes and containment strategies.

Preferred Experience

• Hands-on work with AIOps platforms or large-scale ML monitoring.
• Knowledge of safety, evaluation, or guardrail tooling and associated research.

Success Metrics in First 6-12 Months

• Demonstrated reduction in incidents within the deployed AI agent fleet despite growth.
• Establishment of a robust, living evaluation and guardrail framework widely trusted by the team.
• Development of safe operational patterns enabling smooth agent management by the operations group.
