Role Overview

If you have an interest and experience in electricity, mechanics, and hydraulics, and want to help keep wind turbines operational, this position is for you. Joining Vestas as a Service Technician offers a chance to contribute significantly to the global transition towards renewable energy. We provide comprehensive technical training to equip our technicians with advanced expertise. Safety is a key principle embedded in all our daily operations, and you will be part of a team dedicated to high-quality maintenance and service delivery across Australia.

Work Locations and Conditions

  • Positions available across Regional Australia (this is not a FIFO role; residing in the region is required): Western Australia - Merredin, Jurian Bay, Geraldton; South Australia - Port Augusta/Whyalla, Millicent/Mt Gambier; Victoria - Warnambool, Ballarat, Sale; New South Wales - Canberra/Goulburn, Inverell/Glen Innes; Queensland - Hughenden, Chinchilla/Dulacca, Atherton; Tasmania - Musselroe, Granville Harbour.
  • Standard working hours are 8 hours per day.
  • On-call weekend duties approximately once every 3 to 4 weeks.
  • Annual travel approximately 50 days.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to top safety and environmental protocols while achieving service objectives.
  • Perform scheduled inspections and maintenance in line with Vestas’ standards, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic troubleshooting and part replacement.
  • Ensure turbines operate smoothly by managing condition monitoring and remote control systems.
  • Maintain a well-equipped service vehicle and inventory by ordering necessary materials, tools, and spare parts.
  • Assemble and service components as per current procedures, utilizing cranes internally or externally when required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Completion of trade qualifications in electrical, mechanical, or hydraulics, combined with eagerness to expand expertise.
  • Proficiency in computer usage for work monitoring and documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license is mandatory.

Competencies and Physical Requirements

  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining the highest health and safety standards.
  • Capability to climb wind turbines and perform physically demanding tasks at heights under various weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel to different sites as necessary.
  • Enjoys teamwork and engaging with multiple stakeholders, both on-site and across the business.
  • Solutions-driven, capable of working independently and managing tasks in an organized manner.
