Statutory Planner

Position Overview

Kingborough Council is looking to employ two skilled Statutory Planners to support our Development Services department. The roles consist of one permanent full-time position and another fixed-term full-time role lasting 24 months. Both positions are based at the Kingston Civic Centre in Tasmania.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and assess development applications to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Conduct site inspections and prepare detailed planning reports with recommendations.
• Offer guidance and advice to developers, consultants, governmental bodies, and the community.
• Support enforcement activities related to planning compliance.
• Assist with tribunal proceedings when necessary.
• Collaborate effectively across council departments to provide responsive and customer-focused planning services.

Candidate Profile

• Possess relevant academic qualifications in Planning or a related field.
• Have proven experience in statutory planning and development assessment processes.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of planning legislation and planning schemes.
• Exhibit strong communication abilities, including report writing and engaging with diverse stakeholders.
• Be capable of working cooperatively within a team and offer professional support.

Additional Information

The positions offer a salary range of $94,895 to $104,849, commensurate with expertise and experience, plus an additional 12.5% superannuation. Employment is subject to satisfactory completion of various pre-employment checks such as national police clearance, work rights verification, references, and health assessments including drug and alcohol screening.
