About the Role

We are seeking an experienced System Administrator to work remotely from Ireland. This role suits a technically adept IT expert who thrives on resolving complex issues and ensuring that IT systems are reliable, secure, and operationally efficient. The position involves providing support for a global workforce by managing a variety of hardware, operating systems, network configurations, and security infrastructures. The successful candidate will be hands-on with technical assistance, infrastructure upkeep, troubleshooting, and driving process enhancements, playing a vital role in daily IT operations and security strengthening.

Responsibilities

Offer technical assistance to users across Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms.
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot workstations, software, peripherals, and other IT devices.
Handle and prioritize IT support tickets through systems like Jira.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues.
Manage the entire lifecycle of devices, including inventory, deployment, setup, maintenance, and replacement.
Configure and oversee security mechanisms such as VPNs, antivirus, MDM, backup solutions, firewalls, and monitoring tools.
Ensure adherence to internal IT policies, security protocols, and operational standards.
Maintain and update documentation, procedural manuals, and knowledge bases.
Support network administration tasks involving protocols and technologies like TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and VLANs.
Drive IT process enhancements via automation, scripting, and workflow optimization.
Assist with user access controls, system configurations, and infrastructure support tasks.

Requirements

Two to four years of professional experience as a System Administrator or in a comparable technical support capacity.
Demonstrated expertise managing Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
Solid understanding of networking principles including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and VLAN.
Experience with security tools such as antivirus software, firewalls, backup solutions, mobile device management (MDM), and logging utilities.
Strong problem-solving aptitude with effective troubleshooting skills for hardware and software challenges.
Familiarity with ticketing systems and maintaining accurate technical documentation.
Basic knowledge of scripting or automation using languages like Bash or PowerShell is a plus.
Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy management, and virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V is desirable.
Excellent communication skills to support users clearly and professionally.
Capability to work autonomously, prioritize work, and manage duties effectively in a remote setting.
