VMC Machine Operator

Job Overview

We are looking for a capable and accountable CNC Vertical Machining Center (VMC) Operator to handle precision machining tasks. This role involves setting up, controlling, and maintaining VMC machines to ensure efficient and accurate production while upholding safety and quality protocols.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate CNC VMC equipment effectively and safely throughout shifts.
• Load and unload raw materials, fixtures, and finished parts as required.
• Conduct machine setup and alignments following job specifications.
• Continuously monitor machining processes to maintain smooth production flow.
• Adjust tool offsets and machine parameters to optimize output quality.
• Install and exchange cutting tools, inserts, holders, and fixtures.
• Set precise workpiece and tool offsets and ensure secure clamping.
• Track tooling wear and perform timely replacements to sustain machining accuracy.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and manufacturing guidelines.
• Inspect machined components using precision measurement tools ensuring conformity to specified tolerances.
• Document inspection results and production data meticulously.
• Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance tasks on machines including coolant and lubrication checks.
• Maintain adherence to 5S workplace organization standards and cleanliness.
• Report any machine malfunctions or breakdowns promptly to maintenance.
• Comply with all safety requirements and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Handle machines, tools, and materials safely according to company protocols.
• Uphold company quality standards and manufacturing procedures with professionalism.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Practical experience in CNC VMC machine operation.
• Understanding of machining processes, cutting parameters, and tool offsets.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Familiar with precision measuring tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
• Basic knowledge of CNC programming languages including G-Code and M-Code.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to handle machining issues.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and production standards.
