About the Role

We invite experienced professionals to join our People and Wellbeing team in several Workplace Relations roles, including Senior Workplace Relations Consultant, Workplace Relations Specialist, and a dedicated Senior Workplace Relations Consultant focused on Enterprise Bargaining. These positions occur at a transformative time within the University following a significant People and Wellbeing evolution, offering the chance to shape a contemporary, forward-thinking workplace relations function.
These opportunities are available on a full-time or part-time basis, as fixed-term (including parental leave cover) or ongoing appointments. Flexible work arrangements are supported for fixed-term positions, including remote work options across Australia's East Coast and Tasmania.
Responsibilities
- Deliver strategic advice across all workplace relations matters University-wide.
- Contribute to negotiation processes and implementation of the University's staff agreement.
- Provide expert guidance on workplace and industrial relations issues ensuring compliance with legislation, enterprise agreements, and governance frameworks.
- Support leaders and stakeholders managing complex cases.
- Enhance workplace relations capabilities within the team.
- Lead the end-to-end enterprise bargaining activities, including strategy development, negotiation, and staff agreement execution (Senior Consultant – Enterprise Bargaining role).
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as business partners, Legal Services, unions, and employee representatives to promote a proactive, people-centered workplace culture.
Requirements
- Expert technical knowledge of workplace and industrial relations law combined with contemporary HR practices.
- Ability to apply employment frameworks, policies, and procedures pragmatically.
- Experience leading and coordinating complex projects, preferably within higher education or large organizations.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with demonstrated ability to engage with staff at all levels, unions, and other parties effectively.
- Proven record representing and advocating before industrial tribunals and commissions.
- Experience specifically in higher education enterprise bargaining.
- Exceptional self-management skills to perform effectively under pressure and meet objectives.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Project Management, HR, Business, or equivalent experience in large or complex organizations.

Salary
Positions are offered at HEO 8 or HEO 10 levels, with total remuneration up to $162,281 including a base salary range from $114,383 to $139,557 plus 17% superannuation.
