Role Overview
The Analytics Engineer is responsible for delivering high-quality, analytics-ready data supporting enterprise reporting, operational insights, data science initiatives, and strategic decision-making. This role manages the full lifecycle design, construction, and maintenance of scalable semantic models in Snowflake, ensuring data assets are trusted, efficient, and well-governed for platforms like Power BI and Posit Connect. Acting as a liaison between data engineering and business analytics, the engineer translates complex operational, financial, and commercial data into curated datasets facilitating self-service reporting and consistent KPI definitions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize star schemas, data vaults, operational data stores, and semantic models for analytical and operational uses.
- Manage performance tuning, query optimization, and monitoring within the semantic layer.
- Deliver reliable semantic models that drive self-service analytics aligned with company KPIs to guide data-driven decisions.
- Serve as the main analytics engineering contact for business units such as Finance, Operations, Commercial, Maintenance, and Safety, interpreting their data requirements into technical solutions.
- Convert business needs into scalable, analytics-ready data sets aligned with KPIs, metrics standards, and governance policies.
- Define and uphold standards for data modeling, glossary, lineage, documentation, and best practices.
- Utilize Python, R, SQL, and other languages for data cleansing, transformation, and analysis tasks.
- Support compliance and security mandates including access control, data masking, and regulatory reporting.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications
- Combination of education and professional experience will be evaluated.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Analytics, or related discipline required.
- Minimum of 5 years in Analytics Engineering, Business Intelligence, or Data Engineering roles.
- Expert-level SQL skills across major platforms including Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle, and Postgres.
- Proven experience designing and maintaining semantic and dimensional models such as star schemas and KPI frameworks.
- Proficiency with BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and tools like Postman.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing architectures and ETL processes.
- Experience working with agentic AI tools and large language models to enhance development and analysis workflows.
- Knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP) and integrating AI agents with data sources and internal tools.
Preferred Experience
- Background in the aviation industry.
- Experience in self-service analytics enablement and BI governance.
