Role Overview

We are seeking an energetic Applications Engineer to manage the full lifecycle of automation proposals. This role includes reviewing customer needs, developing tailored solutions, budgeting accurately, and setting realistic project timelines. The position requires close collaboration with sales and management teams, presentation of technical concepts to customers, and ensuring smooth transition to operations for maintenance and troubleshooting. This is a fully remote, field-based position covering Southern Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate directly with customers during requirements definition and concept generation phases.
Partner with sales teams to develop effective win strategies and support proposal submissions.
Manage the end-to-end proposal process, including concept creation, technical design, costing, and proposal documentation.
Facilitate technical alignment by interacting with sales and management representatives.
Deliver technical presentations emphasizing competitive advantages to customers.
Support internal proposal and design teams and help refine related processes.
Document technical specifications, identify project risks, and oversee project plans and change protocols.
Serve in technical advisory roles and engage with customers at multiple organizational levels.
Ensure comprehensive handover to operations for ongoing support and maintenance.
Apply a standardized quoting and presentation process using specific templates, cost worksheets, CAD software, compliance matrices, and FAT/SAT criteria.
Utilize technical writers and simulation/CAD resources to improve proposals.
Leverage cross-business expertise and knowledge sharing via platforms such as SharePoint or MS Teams.

Qualifications and Experience

HND or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum of five years' experience in automation, preferably within the Life Sciences industry.
Proven experience in preparing quotes, managing sales processes, and engaging effectively with customers.
Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical design drawings and customer part prints.
Capable of creating 2D CAD concepts and 3D CAD models using SolidWorks, Inventor, or Visual Components.
Experience collaborating with project teams and customers to design and estimate integrated systems.
Strong understanding of costing factors such as timelines, materials, labor, and tooling.
Knowledge of electrical and pneumatic control architectures is advantageous.
