The role of Assistant Manager in Control & Instrumentation (C&I) for Operations & Maintenance entails overseeing the uninterrupted availability and reliability of C&I systems for Ash Handling Plant (AHP) and water treatment processes. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, system backups, audits, managing contractors, and budget compliance to ensure optimal system functionality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the performance and reliability of C&I systems linked to Turbine and its auxiliary systems such as UPS, DCS, SWAS, CPU systems, Governing system, ETS, HPLP Bypass.
  • Conduct regular upkeep of SWAS, Motor Operated Valves (MOV), Turbine, and auxiliary equipment to avert operational disruptions.
  • Plan and execute unit overhauls to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Promptly diagnose and fix equipment malfunctions to maintain seamless operations.
  • Carry out scheduled calibration of instrumentation and prepare comprehensive reports on assessments and corrections.
  • Coordinate with contractor technicians by allocating resources and providing technical guidance for maintenance activities.
  • Support root cause analyses (RCA), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and initiatives aimed at achieving zero forced outages (ZFO).
  • Apply Management of Change (MoC) procedures for equipment and process modifications to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Periodically backup systems including DCS, PLC, PSI, and turbine auxiliary systems to secure operational data.
  • Assist in spares and inventory management, including developing local spare parts and procurement adhering to budget constraints.
  • Maintain and update documentation and as-built engineering drawings.
  • Enforce compliance with IMS, AWMS, DISHA, and CHETNA frameworks to support business continuity and safety.
  • Implement corrective measures from safety audits and ensure work permit systems are followed to mitigate risks.
  • Lead digitization and automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and incorporate cutting-edge technologies within the department.

Work Interactions

Interact closely with various internal departments, including Environment & Sustainability, Techno Commercial, Operations & Maintenance, Security, Stores, and Support Functions. Maintain relationships with external partners such as vendors.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Control & Instrumentation or Electronics & Communication Engineering.
