Role Overview: Assistant Project Manager

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Assistant Project Manager will handle various administrative and site-based responsibilities on assigned construction projects. This role involves procurement of materials, managing subcontractor contracts, processing change orders, and liaising with clients, architects, and suppliers. It is a fully onsite position requiring daily presence at the construction site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain communication with prime clients and architects/engineers to support construction operations.
  • Support project management with financial tasks such as processing owner pay applications, change orders, and generating cost reports.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs for estimating change orders.
  • Assist in obtaining subcontractor pricing and managing contracts.
  • Oversee subcontractors and suppliers regarding submittals, deliveries, scheduling, material availability, and pending estimates.
  • Visit supplier facilities as necessary to facilitate or expedite deliveries.
  • Help prepare and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Participate in meetings for progress coordination, issue discussions, and project changes.
  • Compile data and prepare periodic or special project reports as required.
  • Coordinate MEP subcontractor layouts, assist with system start-up and commissioning, and prepare as-built drawings.
  • Manage document control processes including distribution and tracking of RFIs, ASIs/CCDs, field reports, and contract documents.
  • Review, coordinate, and track submittals, shop drawings, and samples to ensure accurate field implementation.
  • Enforce jobsite safety protocols and promote adherence to DOC safety rules across the site.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge of major construction methods and practices.
  • Excellent listening and communication abilities with conflict resolution skills.
  • Capacity to identify and resolve complex challenges effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for professional interactions with clients, vendors, and architects.
