Construction Planner / Scheduler

Job Overview

A Tier 2 construction contractor based in Cork is looking for a skilled Planner / Scheduler to take ownership of project programmes. The role involves building, managing, and updating detailed schedules that ensure projects are progressed on time, within budget, and meeting quality benchmarks.

Main Responsibilities

• Create precise tender-stage construction timelines and accompanied narrative reports in collaboration with the estimating team under tight deadlines.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive construction schedules utilizing standard industry software such as MS Project and Primavera P6, with Asta Powerproject experience as a plus.
• Decompose project scopes into manageable work packages, tasks, and logical sequences coordinated with overall deliverables.
• Track progress by comparing ongoing activities against baseline plans and revise schedules accordingly.
• Conduct critical path analyses to detect any deviations and potential bottlenecks.
• Liaise with project managers, site personnel, and subcontractors to confirm the accuracy of schedule details.
• Lead and facilitate regular progress review meetings to evaluate timelines, identify delays, and establish corrective measures.
• Recognize scheduling risks proactively and develop mitigation plans to safeguard on-time programme completion.
• Evaluate how scope alterations, delays, or unforeseen hurdles impact project timelines and costs.
• Prepare and communicate detailed progress reports, including Gantt charts, S-curves, dashboards, and schedule updates.
• Clearly relay important scheduling metrics and forecasts to both internal teams and external clients.

Candidate Requirements

• A degree qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in construction planning and scheduling.
• Hands-on experience managing medium to large-scale construction assignments.
• In-depth understanding of construction sequencing, methodologies, and resource allocation practices.
• Knowledge of Irish construction standards, regulations, and typical delivery processes.
• Competency with Primavera P6 and MS Project; familiarity with Asta Powerproject is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary range of €75,000 to €85,000 annually.
