Role Overview
The Contracts Manager will oversee all pre-contract activities, ensuring review and negotiation of contract documents adhere to company policies, align with contract terms, and address risk mitigation. This role supports various projects by delivering contractual expertise under the direction of the Director – Contracts Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and analyze various contractual documents such as NDAs, MoUs, letters of award/intent, subcontracts, warranties, guarantees, and contract conditions during bid preparation.
- Collaborate with teams including Business Development, Bid Proposals, SCM, Legal, Finance, Tax, HSES, and Quality to assess risks and opportunities in contract terms for business advantage and compliance.
- Assist negotiations and draft contracts with clients ensuring favorable terms that comply with Lamprell’s contract policies and standards.
- Manage contract clarifications consistent with company policies and industry best practices.
- Formulate negotiation approaches to optimize value while minimizing risks consistent with company risk management strategies.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement of contract standards, templates, and contracting rules alongside senior leadership including general counsel.
- Support subcontracting processes including drafting, negotiating, executing contracts and resolving disputes.
- Advise project teams on contract variations, warranties, and dispute management throughout project execution.
- Identify and mitigate contractual risks in cooperation with the Director – Contracts Management and Legal Department throughout project lifecycle.
- Aid the company’s risk management efforts related to contracting activities.
- Mentor and develop subordinate and broader Contracts teams for enhanced pre-contracting proficiency.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align contract strategies, negotiations, and execution activities.
- Prepare and present reports on contract development, compliance issues, and risks to senior management.
- Analyze contract execution data to support strategic decisions involving contract approaches.
- Safeguard company commercial and legal interests in all contracts.
- Facilitate communication for effective tender and project execution between departments.
- Perform additional contract management tasks as assigned by executive management.
- Support Project teams as needed with contract-related tasks.
- Adhere to Health, Safety, Environmental and Security responsibilities and policies.
- Review contractual correspondence related to projects.
- Coordinate with SCM and project teams to ensure timely claiming and agreement of justified changes with vendors and clients.
- Maintain positive client relationships to identify and resolve concerns promptly.
- Ensure compliance with Information Security and HSE policies and procedures.
Competencies & Skills
- In-depth knowledge of contract, commercial, risk, project, and construction management principles.
- Expertise in EPCI contracts and industry standards.
- Strong skills in drafting contract terms, negotiation, communication, and presentations.
- Problem-solving creativity and team leadership capabilities.
Experience & Education
- Minimum 10 years’ construction industry experience with at least 6 years in the Oil and Gas sector.
- Well-versed in contractual and legal principles.
- Postgraduate qualification and/or professional degree in a relevant discipline.
