Job Overview
A prominent organization in Brandon, Manitoba is seeking an experienced Controller to provide financial leadership and operational support. This permanent full-time role involves leading the financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and partnering with management to enhance business performance and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day financial activities and oversee the finance team to ensure smooth operations.
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing, maintaining accurate and compliant accounting records.
- Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, payroll, GST filings, and related accounting functions.
- Collaborate with department managers on budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting to guide strategic decisions.
- Coordinate external audits and ensure organization of financial documentation for audit readiness.
- Identify and implement improvements in financial systems, internal controls, and business processes to reduce risk and enhance efficiency.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and foster a collaborative work environment within the finance team.
Candidate Profile
- CPA designation or near completion of CPA program required.
- Proven experience in full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and staff leadership or mentorship.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, payroll, GST, budgeting, forecasting, and audit procedures.
- Advanced skills with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Collaborative mindset with ability to build productive relationships at all organizational levels.
