Overview

Located in the Al-Qassim Region of Saudi Arabia, this full-time role as a Design Engineer involves designing, analyzing, and documenting heavy fabricated equipment including pressure vessels, piping systems, and process plants. Designs must strictly adhere to ASME codes, NACE standards, pipeline regulations, and client-specific criteria, ensuring safety, manufacturability, cost efficiency, and timely project delivery.

Reporting & Collaboration

The role reports directly to the Engineering Manager and closely collaborates with internal teams such as Engineering, Operations, Projects, and Manufacturing. External interactions include communication with customers and third-party inspectors.

Key Responsibilities

Create comprehensive engineering calculations, drawings, and technical documents following ASME (Section VIII, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8), NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 for sour service, applicable pipeline codes, and customer specifications.
Perform mechanical design assessments like thickness, stress, nozzle loads, supports, and reinforcements to ensure safety and compliance.
Develop 2D and 3D CAD models using AutoCAD and SolidWorks; produce general arrangement, fabrication drawings, isometrics, and BOMs maintaining revision control.
Choose appropriate materials meeting ASTM, ASME, and API standards considering process conditions, corrosion factors, and NACE requirements; review material test certificates.
Coordinate with Production, Planning, QA/QC, and Procurement teams; offer technical support during fabrication, welding, inspection; resolve shop floor queries.
Interface with clients, interpreters of technical specifications, RFQs, and gain necessary approvals from clients and third-party inspectors.
Lead internal design reviews and risk assessments such as HAZOP; maintain thorough documentation for audits and code compliance.
Prepare and submit all deliverables including design calculation reports, various drawings, material specifications, data sheets, and ensure effective document control.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing design and reducing costs; update design practices and remain current with industry standards.
Uphold company and client quality, safety, and environmental management systems; report all incidents and complete required documentation timely.
Complete mandatory internal training on Environmental Awareness, COSHH, Manual Handling, and basic Integrated Management System courses.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
5 to 10 years’ experience designing heavy fabricated equipment in industries such as oil & gas, EPC, or fabrication.
Proficient with design software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks; knowledge of FEA tools is advantageous.
Strong understanding of ASME codes (Section VIII, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8) and NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 standards.
Experience with welding procedures (WPS/PQR), fabrication processes, and limitations.
