Development Planner

About the Role

Join Keyland Developments Ltd, a strategic land promoter and sister company of Yorkshire Water focused on sustainable development in Yorkshire. We are looking for a Development Planner to promote properties through the statutory planning system and secure marketable consents. This permanent, full-time role in Leeds city centre offers hybrid working with a 37-hour week within an 8:00am to 6:00pm window, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

• Prepare offers and tender submissions to win new Promotion and Planning Agreements (PPA) in alignment with Keyland Board principles.
• Conduct meetings and interviews with landowners and their agents to secure new sites.
• Negotiate Heads of Terms for land opportunities with agents and owners.
• Manage sites legally to finalize and sign up new land agreements.
• Act as primary contact for landowners and agents after PPA sign-up, providing quarterly progress reports.
• Engage with local planning authorities to represent the company's interests on draft development plans.
• Participate in community engagement events and planning committee meetings when required.
• Conduct health and safety site visits.
• Support external PR, business development activities, social media management, award submissions, and event organization.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Degree in town planning or equivalent qualification.
• Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
• Working towards MRICS membership is desirable.
• Comprehensive understanding of statutory planning legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Proven experience managing multiple consultant teams to achieve planning permissions on schedule.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to various audiences.
• Familiarity with legal and contractual aspects of land processes.
• Track record of meeting challenging business targets in a commercial environment.
• Strong prioritization and time management abilities.
• Proficient with IT applications, primarily Microsoft Office suite.
• Possession of a full UK driving license with no more than six penalty points.
