Role Summary
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring reliable plant power supply and supporting the maintenance and upkeep of open die press and related equipment. The role involves preventive and breakdown maintenance, planning shutdowns, managing spares and inventory, maintaining records, coordinating with production and purchase teams, and improving equipment reliability through structured maintenance practices.
Responsibilities
The role requires day-to-day ownership of electrical maintenance activities and coordination across departments to keep operations running smoothly.
- Maintain uninterrupted power supply across the plant.
- Plan and schedule preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
- Track daily energy consumption and maintain related records.
- Prepare manpower plans based on the day’s workload.
- Document daily breakdowns and compile technical reports.
- Monitor maintenance stock, spares, and related costs.
- Prepare technical specifications for purchasing materials and equipment.
- Coordinate regularly with the purchase team for spares and service support.
- Identify and develop alternate spares for critical items.
- Implement Kaizen initiatives and support TPM activities.
- Manage breakdown spares and SAP-based maintenance transactions including indents, reservations, notifications, and service entry sheets.
- Maintain calibration records for instruments and related documentation.
- Track MTTR, MTBF, and breakdown targets within management limits.
- Maintain ISO records and documentation.
- Plan equipment shutdowns in consultation with the production team.
- Handle service-related issues for concerned departments.
- Train junior staff and ensure clear communication between departments.
- Ensure work is carried out according to SOPs.
- Make sure team members follow safety rules and regulations.
- Work to reduce absenteeism and manage shift schedules as required.
- Pay close attention to safety and housekeeping in the machine area.
- Take on any additional duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in open die press service and maintenance.
- Qualification in Electrical Engineering, either a degree or diploma.
- Good understanding of open die press working principles and processes.
- Hands-on knowledge of Siemens PLC, drives, HMI, and programming tools.
- Familiarity with HT power distribution and switchgear equipment such as ACB and VCB.
- Working knowledge of troubleshooting, diagnostics, breakdown repair, preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, CAPA, TPM, and ISO documentation.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfort with SAP HANA and other computer software used for maintenance work.

This position is based in Tarapur, India, and is focused on shop-floor and plant operations. The work requires close coordination with production, purchase, maintenance, and other departments, along with strict attention to safety, housekeeping, and standard operating procedures.
