Position Overview
The Energy Data & Reporting Analyst role at Gerdau North America involves gathering, analyzing, and presenting energy-related data to aid decision-making, enhance efficiency, and ensure compliance within North American operations. This position serves as the link between technical data handling and business intelligence reporting to provide accurate tracking and communication of energy use, costs, and performance.
Key Duties
- Collect energy information from internal systems such as SAP, utility bills, and external sources while managing and updating databases, dashboards, and Power BI reports.
- Conduct statistical and predictive analysis to identify energy trends, unusual patterns, and prospects for optimization, supporting the Energy Team with forecasting and performance assessment.
- Develop comprehensive reports and visual data representations using tools like Power BI and Databricks for presentations to internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with teams including Energy, project management, IT, accounting, and finance to incorporate data into energy management reporting frameworks.
- Support Gerdau’s Energy and Industrial Gases Team with analytics, reporting, special projects, and design of business intelligence solutions across North American business units.
- Maintain professional relationships to stay informed on market trends, preparing analysis, models, proposals, and forecasts relevant to energy and industrial gases.
- Analyze business unit energy consumption and supply needs, assist with competitive bidding processes, and aid negotiations under the guidance of the Director of Energy.
- Represent the organization in regulatory, commercial, and governmental contexts to protect and advance company interests related to energy, coordinating with external consultants and counsel as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- A Bachelor’s degree in Energy Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, Data Science, Analytics, or a related discipline is required.
- Strong expertise in Excel, SQL, data modeling, statistical methods, and visualization platforms including Power BI and Databricks.
- Experience with energy coefficients, conversions, and calculations is essential.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking capabilities combined with attention to data detail.
- Knowledge of energy-related terminology, market conditions, regulatory frameworks, and Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) markets.
