Execution Engineer - Tanks

Overview

We seek a seasoned Mechanical Engineer specializing in the hands-on construction, refurbishment, repair, and testing of both fixed and floating-roof storage tanks to join our team in Abu Dhabi.

Educational Background

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar engineering field.

Professional Experience

• At least 5 to 10 years of focused work experience in storage tank construction and rehabilitation projects.

Primary Duties and Skills

• Develop and enforce method statements pertaining to storage tank rehab activities.
• Supervise laying, fitting, and welding of bottom-plates.
• Oversee shell-plate erection, utilizing hydraulic jacking or cranes.
• Direct roof structure assembly and installation processes.
• Monitor internal floating-roof setups.
• Manage installation of stairways, platforms, handrails, as well as nozzles, manholes, and related components.
• Supervise activities involving painting, coating, and insulation.
• Inspect foundations, ring walls, and tank-bottom areas prior to erection.
• Ensure adherence to approved drawings, specifications, procedures, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with Planning, HSE, QA/QC, Civil, and other project stakeholders.
• Track construction milestones and prepare reports (daily, weekly, monthly) alongside the Planning Engineer.
• Oversee hydrostatic testing and monitor settlement throughout project timelines.
• Support risk assessments and promote safe execution practices at the site.

Technical Expertise

• In-depth knowledge of API 650 and API 653 standards.
• Experience with fabrication and repair of fixed and floating-roof storage tanks.
• Proficiency in welding techniques such as SMAW, FCAW, SAW, and GTAW.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, GA, fabrication drawings, and project specs accurately.
• Understanding of civil foundation work including tank-bottom foundations and ring walls.
• Familiarity with construction planning and schedule management.
