Role overview
This is a confidential search for a client of Weekday on behalf of a growing dairy processing business that is opening a new manufacturing site in Seward, Nebraska. The position is a full-time, on-site leadership role in beverage and dairy manufacturing.
The company is looking for someone who is excited by the chance to create systems and structure from the ground up, rather than only managing an existing setup. You will work closely with executive leadership and plant operations to shape the accounting and finance function for the facility as it scales.
Why this role stands out
Unlike a typical controller position in an established plant, this role is centered on building the financial foundation for a new operation. The work will include developing accounting processes, strengthening internal controls, supporting ERP implementation, building inventory and cost accounting practices, and creating reporting that helps the business run better.
You will also have meaningful exposure to leadership decisions and will act as a business partner to operations, with influence that goes beyond standard accounting duties.
Key responsibilities
- Own the accounting function for the facility.
- Handle financial statements, month-end close, general ledger activity, reconciliations, and internal controls.
- Manage inventory accounting, cost accounting, manufacturing reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
- Support the rollout and optimization of the ERP system while establishing processes that can scale.
- Create useful operational reporting and KPIs to improve decision-making.
- Work closely with plant leadership to strengthen financial visibility and operational results.
- Lead and coach a small team handling accounting and administrative work.
Candidate profile
The preferred background includes experience in one or more manufacturing settings such as dairy processing, beverage manufacturing, beverage bottling, aseptic or UHT production, or broader food and beverage manufacturing.
Strong applicants are likely to have held titles such as Financial Controller, Plant Controller, Manufacturing Controller, Operations Finance Manager, Plant Finance Manager, or Manufacturing Accounting Manager.
Beyond technical expertise, the hiring team values a collaborative style, ownership mindset, strong working relationships, and a proactive approach to improving business performance.
Compensation and benefits
- Expected total compensation is around $150,000, with room for stronger offers for highly relevant beverage, dairy, or bottling manufacturing experience.
- Annual bonus potential.
- 100% employer-paid medical insurance for family coverage.
- Dental and vision benefits.
- Paid time off.
- Relocation support is available.
