HSSE Specialist

About the Role

We invite driven professionals to join our team dedicated to responsible energy sector projects in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. As an HSSE Specialist, you will play a crucial role in implementing and coordinating Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) programs, supporting project teams to meet safety objectives, and promoting continuous HSSE improvements onsite.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure comprehensive understanding and enforcement of project-specific HSSE plans and compliance on site, making HSSE documentation accessible to all relevant personnel.
• Communicate HSSE policies, legal requirements, and lessons learned effectively to project staff, maintaining up-to-date HSSE information displays.
• Actively participate in HSSE meetings as dictated by project standards.
• Provide guidance on HSSE risk management through daily reviews of tools like StepBack and Job Hazard Assessments (JHA).
• Encourage hazard identification and reporting, identifying unsafe conditions and behaviors, and ensure adherence to permit-to-work protocols.
• Oversee correct waste disposal aligned with the waste management plan.
• Support emergency response preparedness, participate in drills, and ensure employee awareness of emergency protocols.
• Conduct Level 1 HSSE inspections per project requirements and report findings promptly.
• Verify inspection, testing, and color-coding procedures follow the project inspection matrix, reporting defects suitably.
• Confirm workers hold necessary certifications and competencies for their tasks.
• Promptly report incidents, preserve scenes, and aid investigation processes to ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
• Ensure all personnel receive HSSE training aligned with the project’s training matrix.
• Maintain open communication with construction teams to advise on HSSE best practices.
• Guide proper use, maintenance, and storage of personal protective equipment and monitor chemical safety handling onsite.
• Facilitate Toolbox talks in applicable languages and report any gaps to supervisors.
• Proactively seek hazards and enhancement opportunities onsite for ongoing HSSE development.
• Monitor subcontractors’ compliance with Kent’s HSSE policies and provide feedback to management.
• Enforce stoppage of unsafe activities per company protocols, documenting and reporting incidents appropriately.
• Commit to ongoing professional development through regular reviews with supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

• Hold NVQ, NFQ Level 3, IOSH, or OSHA 30 certification.
• Possess a minimum of 3 years of practical field experience in risk management within oil & gas or related industries.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of delivering engaging safety messages.
• Ability to establish collaborative relationships across diverse groups and effectively address safety matters with site management.
• Competent in root cause analysis (RCA) and incident investigation procedures.
• Experienced in identifying and acting upon unsafe work conditions and behaviors.
• Knowledgeable about ISO standards 9001, 14001, and 45001 and their practical application in construction field environments.
• Exceptional skills in performing site inspections and ensuring timely resolution of issues.
• Understanding of risk management principles and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA).
