Junior Data Scientist

Overview

J & J Staffing Resources is seeking a Junior Data Scientist based in Brooklyn, NY, working four days onsite and one day remotely. This full-time direct hire role offers an annual salary between $75,000 and $85,000. The position involves facilitating business intelligence, marketing analytics, and data-driven strategies by turning complex datasets into actionable insights and deploying machine learning to improve business outcomes in a fast-paced eCommerce setting.

Key Duties

• Collect and process data from internal systems and digital marketing sources to detect patterns and generate meaningful business insights.
• Develop and enhance ETL workflows to ensure reliable and efficient data transfer for analytics and reports.
• Create, evaluate, and deploy machine learning models to optimize marketing efforts and operational efficiency.
• Construct and support dashboards and reports, offering transparency on KPIs and campaign performance.
• Conduct exploratory and on-demand data analyses supporting strategic projects and identifying growth prospects.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to comprehend needs and deliver data-based solutions.
• Maintain data quality standards and continuously improve reporting and analytics processes.

Required Qualifications

• Over two years experience using Python for automation, data analysis, and machine learning development.
• At least two years utilizing SQL (preferably MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server) to extract, manipulate, and transform data for business analysis.
• Minimum one year hands-on with ETL development or improvement across multiple systems.
• Proven skill in independently designing, validating, and deploying machine learning models for practical business impact.
• One year or more experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with source control systems like Git or GitHub for code management and teamwork.
• Understanding of database architecture, data integrity, and reporting best practices with additional exposure to Power BI, eCommerce metrics, or digital advertising analytics favored.
