Role Overview
As a vital contributor within the Applied Machine Learning Group, you will enhance a top-tier streaming platform focused on user engagement. Your responsibilities encompass managing 'onboarding' and 're-entry' experiences through key features such as Your Next Watch (YNW), Jump Back In (JBI), and While You Were Away (WYWA). Your aim is to tailor content presentation to maximize user commitment starting a session.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end development of features for the Jump Back In and Your Next Watch experiences.
- Utilize Qdrant vector databases to retrieve relevant content candidates based on user session histories and prevailing trends.
- Employ MLFlow to plan, track, and deploy machine learning experiments ensuring rigorous reproducibility standards.
- Build, train, and serve models on Google Cloud Platform using frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch, integrating post-training reinforcement learning techniques to optimize rewards.
- Engage in design reviews to uphold high reliability and quality standards across your contributions.
- Innovate solutions to the 'Cold Start' challenge to deliver personalized experiences for new users with limited data.
- Optimize for early engagement metrics, focusing on increasing the start rate by accurately predicting user commitment within the opening 30 seconds of app use.
Qualifications
- At least three years of professional experience in machine learning engineering roles.
- Proven expertise with Google Cloud Platform and MLFlow for experiment management.
- Proficient in TensorFlow and PyTorch for model development.
- Experience working with vector database technology such as Qdrant.
- Demonstrated ability to design features addressing cold start problems effectively.
- Experience ensuring reproducibility in model experimentation and deployment.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with multi-stage ranking systems and cold start problem-solving methodologies.
- Hands-on experience optimizing retrieval systems and re-entry carousel functionalities.
- Understanding and application of post-training reinforcement learning for reward-centric optimization.

Additional Details
The salary range for this position spans from $124,000 to $186,000 annually, applicable across multiple states including New York, California, Colorado, and Washington. Compensation depends on factors such as location, market demands, candidate experience, training, and education. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), life insurance, disability, tuition support, paid time off, and eligibility for performance bonuses. Collective Bargaining Agreement terms apply where relevant.
