Role Overview
We are seeking an Operations Supervisor to join our Sherwood Park Terminal team. The role involves overseeing driver activities, requiring robust knowledge of various equipment types along with quick decision-making and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and direct drivers to ensure efficient operations and timely deliveries of goods and services.
- Oversee and monitor the daily progress of drivers and equipment, resolving any operational issues or delays swiftly.
- Offer guidance and support to drivers, providing solutions and assistance when necessary.
- Coordinate with other departments to maintain smooth communication and collaboration across teams.
- Keep detailed records of driver activities including hours logged, goods delivered, and any incidents or accidents occurring.
- Enforce safety protocols and procedures to protect drivers, equipment, and cargo.
- Assess and enhance operational workflows to improve efficiency and productivity continually.
- Handle customer complaints and concerns professionally and promptly.
- Stay informed on industry trends to identify potential improvements and innovative opportunities.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required; higher education in a related field is advantageous.
- Previous supervisory or managerial experience, ideally within transportation or logistics.
- Demonstrated capability to effectively lead and motivate a team.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills to meet deadlines efficiently.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Familiarity with transportation management software and related computer systems.
- Knowledgeable about safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
