Position Overview

The Private Equity Analyst role involves comprehensive involvement across various segments of the private equity sector. Responsibilities include conducting manager and fund due diligence within StepStone's advisory practice and supporting due diligence efforts for asset management functions such as co-investment and secondary market strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate within a team setting to source, screen, and perform due diligence on selected private equity fund managers, co-investments, and secondary market opportunities.
• Conduct both quantitative and qualitative research, including financial modeling and analysis of companies and assets across multiple industries and geographies.
• Engage directly with fund managers and portfolio company executives to carry out detailed portfolio and asset underwriting and evaluation.
• Analyze Private Placement Memorandums (PPMs), financial statements, and investment returns to assess opportunities.
• Conduct reference checks as part of comprehensive manager and asset diligence.
• Perform market research leveraging public sources and proprietary databases to identify and analyze macroeconomic trends within various sectors.
• Prepare thorough due diligence documentation and memos for consideration by the Investment Committee.
• Present investment recommendations to the team and the firm’s Investment Committee.
• Track and monitor the ongoing performance of the firm’s portfolio investments.

Qualifications and Experience

• Authorization to work legally in the U.S. without current or future need for visa sponsorship.
• At least one year of experience in investment banking, consulting, or private equity.
• A minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Strong quantitative abilities including expertise in financial modeling, analysis, and valuation to effectively evaluate investment opportunities.
• Good judgment in assessing risk and reward trade-offs with prudent investment decision-making skills.
• Self-motivated with a creative mindset and strong research acumen to develop solutions independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear and effective idea presentation.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with meticulous attention to detail.
• Demonstrate a positive, collaborative team approach with enthusiasm for working on diverse projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Fluent in both written and spoken English.

Compensation

The anticipated salary ranges from $105,000 to $112,500 annually. Actual compensation may vary depending on factors such as geographic location, educational background, skills, and prior experience. This range excludes additional benefits or other compensation forms that may be offered.
