Role Overview

The Procurement Buyer position is a full-time role based at Sylux’s Goleta, CA site. The role entails comprehensive responsibility for purchase operations that support the engineering, manufacturing, and operational sectors. Key duties include generating and processing purchase orders, sourcing and assessing suppliers, negotiating pricing and contract terms, and coordinating timely receipt of components, materials, and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage procurement cycle including generating purchase orders and maintaining accurate purchasing records.
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure optimal pricing and terms.
• Monitor inventory status and coordinate with internal teams to understand material demands and specifications.
• Resolve any discrepancies related to invoices, shipments, or product quality concerns.
• Support cost optimization projects and foster strong supplier relationships aligned with quality and safety standards.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams promoting clear communication and organized procurement processes in a fast-paced technical setting.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Proven expertise in purchasing processes including managing purchase orders and vendor documentation.
• Skilled in procurement activities such as supplier sourcing, evaluation, and negotiation within manufacturing or tech industries.
• Strong analytical ability to analyze data, compare supplier quotes, monitor key metrics, and drive cost-efficiency improvements.
• Excellent communication skills for cross-team collaboration, supplier engagement, and clear documentation.
• Experience using ERP or procurement software and proficiency with standard office applications (spreadsheets, word processors, presentations).
• High attention to detail, outstanding organizational capabilities, and capacity to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
• Commitment to integrity and compliance with company policies, quality norms, and applicable regulations.
• Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience; prior procurement experience in automotive, electronics, or safety systems is advantageous.
