About the Company

A prominent international construction and engineering group is expanding its Dublin-based construction division. With a notable presence across Ireland, the UK, and Europe, this company handles significant projects spanning buildings, infrastructure, rail, energy, and off-site manufacturing.

Role Overview

This position offers an excellent chance for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor to join a market-leading organisation, overseeing the financial aspects of major construction projects. The role provides exposure to large-scale Design & Build initiatives while collaborating with a skilled commercial and project team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare tenders by evaluating subcontractor bids, negotiate, and finalize subcontract agreements.
  • Manage financial and commercial elements related to subcontractors through to project completion.
  • Prepare valuations, manage variations, provide forecasts, and final account projections.
  • Keep detailed site records, measurements, and commercial documentation accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor project costs against targets, and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with site management to address and question commercial issues.
  • Apply commercial strategies to safeguard contractual rights.
  • Participate in contract value assessments and maintain precise commercial reporting.
  • Support cash flow management to ensure robust project financial health.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to Assistant and Trainee Quantity Surveyors when necessary.
  • Assist with tender submissions and broader commercial operations across the organisation.

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or closely related field.
  • Progress towards professional accreditation relevant to the field.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in the construction sector.
  • Strong commercial insight and understanding of the construction project lifecycle.
  • Experience with large Design & Build contracts is preferred.
  • Familiarity with claims handling, dispute resolution, and contract law is advantageous.
  • Experience managing contracts valued over €15 million would be beneficial.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both site and commercial teams.
