Senior Planner

Role overview

Brian Perry Civil is looking for a Planner or Senior Planner to support the delivery of major civil and infrastructure work across New Zealand. The position spans both tender submissions and live project delivery, with a focus on building realistic construction programmes, coordinating with site and commercial teams, and producing analysis that helps drive project outcomes and commercial performance.

This opportunity suits either an experienced Senior Planner or someone with planning experience who is ready to step up. The role provides scope for technical problem-solving, variety across different projects, and support for ongoing professional development.

What you'll do

• Create, update, and manage tender and project schedules using Primavera P6 and MS Project.
• Partner with delivery teams to develop construction methods, sequence work logically, and shape execution plans.
• Track progress against programme, highlight risks and opportunities, and prepare reporting for relevant stakeholders.
• Contribute to forensic schedule reviews by examining events, delays, and productivity effects.
• Help prepare extension of time claims and programme-based evidence for commercial discussions.
• Maintain effective working relationships with project, commercial, engineering, and client stakeholders.

What we're looking for

• A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a closely related field.
• Background in construction planning, scheduling, or project controls within civil, infrastructure, or broader construction settings.
• Hands-on familiarity with Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
• Exposure to delay analysis, claims support, or forensic programme assessment.
• Experience working on both tender phases and project delivery.
• Strong analytical ability, especially around construction methods and sequencing.
• Good stakeholder management and clear communication of programme information.
• A self-driven approach with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
