Position Overview
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the complete lifecycle of complex IT and business-related projects. This role extends the duties of a typical Project Manager by taking charge of high-priority initiatives, ensuring all projects align with company objectives, and maintaining strict adherence to project governance standards. A key part of this role includes providing mentorship to junior project managers, fostering strong stakeholder relationships, and ensuring project delivery meets deadlines, budget constraints, and scope requirements. This position demands advanced certifications, leadership prowess, and documented success in managing diverse teams within fast-paced settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, supervision, and closing phases of large-scale or multiple simultaneous projects.
- Establish project scope, objectives, deliverables, and resource allocation plans consistent with organizational strategies.
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, and risk management, implementing corrective measures when necessary.
- Coordinate communication among stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams to guarantee clarity and alignment.
- Apply project governance frameworks and methodologies including Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid models, ensuring thorough documentation.
- Serve as an escalation resource for junior Project Managers, offering guidance and mentorship.
- Manage project change processes such as scope modifications, risk evaluations, and impact analyses.
- Ensure compliance with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and customer service levels.
- Lead project evaluations and lessons-learned meetings to promote ongoing process improvement.
- Support portfolio and program reporting activities to aid strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
- Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Information Technology, or a similar field; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Experience: 5 to 7 years in project management, including a minimum of 2 years leading complex or large-scale IT projects.
- Technical skills: Proficiency in project management software such as MS Project, Jira, Asana, or equivalents.
- Methodology expertise: Solid understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall frameworks.
- Experience with IT infrastructure, cloud, or digital transformation projects is highly recommended.
- Soft skills: Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Capabilities in conflict resolution, issue management, consensus building, and analytical problem-solving.
- Preferred certifications: PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), PMI-ACP, and ITIL 4 Foundation or higher.
