About the Role

As the Technology Manager for AI & Data, you will lead a team within the Tech Data, AI & UX group to build, scale, and operationalize data and AI solutions supporting Engelhart's trading, quantitative, risk, and operations functions. Reporting to the Global Head of Tech - AI, Data & UX, you will be pivotal in executing the AI Business Plan, enhancing AI platform delivery, governance, and adoption across multiple internal stakeholders and partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of four Senior Data Engineers and two AI & Agentic Platform Interns, overseeing their priorities, growth, and output quality.
• Implement and manage the Agentic AI platform, including orchestration, AWS Lambda services, knowledge bases, vector databases, and secure deployment.
• Support the AI Business Plan by facilitating platform governance, delivery, productivity enhancements, AI-assisted workflows, and analytics integration.
• Deliver AI-driven use cases like Trader Copilot, Quant Copilot, and Risk Copilot among others to enhance operational efficiency.
• Develop scalable data engineering solutions covering ingestion, cleansing, transformation, storage, and analytics distribution valued by multiple teams.
• Collaborate with Quant and Systematic teams to provide AI and data support for research workflows and trading analytics.
• Translate front-office needs into viable technological solutions engaging closely with Trading, Quant, Risk, and Compliance teams.
• Advocate for production-quality engineering standards including security, maintainability, observability, testing, and documentation.
• Ensure AI governance through compliance with standards involving evaluation, auditability, human-in-the-loop systems, and monitoring.
• Quantify and communicate the business impact and adoption of AI solutions aligned with performance metrics.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience managing data and AI engineering teams within a commodities trading environment. They should possess in-depth knowledge of commodities trading and be technically adept to guide architectural decisions and resolve technical challenges effectively. An emphasis is placed on production-grade solutions that balance innovation with operational reliability.

Education and Experience

• Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, or related fields.
• Significant leadership in AI, data engineering, or technology delivery teams.
• Hands-on expertise with modern data engineering, Python, cloud services (primarily AWS), and software delivery practices.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

• Proficiency in Python and related data manipulation libraries such as Pandas.
• Experience with analytic and time-series data platforms, including ClickHouse and Redshift.
• Familiarity with AWS services like S3, Lambda, Athena, EC2, and CloudWatch.
• Expertise in Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Understanding of AI and generative AI technologies, including LLM application architectures, vector databases, and agent-based AI workflows.
• Exposure to commodities markets in Oil, Power, and Gas with knowledge of related analytics and trading workflows.
• Capability to communicate complex technical topics to diverse audiences and foster stakeholder trust.

Additional Desirable Skills

• Systematic trading and quantitative research platform experience.
• Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain and AWS Bedrock.
• Competence with AI governance and compliance frameworks like the EU AI Act.
• Experience with big data tools such as Apache Spark, Databricks, and data visualization platforms like Plotly.
• Experience working in federated technology models and engaging with external partners and vendors.
