UX/UI Designer

The marine industry, supporting recreation, global commerce, and defense, has relied on stagnant technology for decades. Arc is transforming this sector by electrifying powertrains, software, and vessel designs from the ground up, having proven their technology with consumer products and now expanding into commercial and defense vessels with a strong contract pipeline.

Role Overview

We seek a UX/UI Designer responsible for overseeing the entire digital product experience, including mobile apps for boat owners, touchscreens on various vessels, and the marketing website. This role requires an adaptable self-starter capable of handling everything from UX strategy to detailed UI design, collaborating closely with engineers, product managers, and marketing staff to simplify complex marine systems into user-friendly interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full design lifecycle across platforms, creating wireframes, prototypes, and final UI assets for engineering handoff.
• Craft exceptional interfaces for consumer and commercial vessels, including recreational boats and tug/subsystems.
• Develop a compelling website that reflects Arc's premium brand identity.
• Establish and maintain a scalable design system and style guide for both consumer and commercial products.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define requirements, develop prototypes, and iterate based on technology and user feedback.
• Conduct user research and usability testing.
• Adapt rapidly in a dynamic environment using design tools and hands-on product engagement.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of UX/UI design experience, especially with complex digital products integrating software and hardware (Mobile, Web, or Embedded).
• Proven ability to act as a Product Designer with strong understanding of business and engineering trade-offs.
• Track record of defining product vision via design informed by both qualitative and quantitative research.
• Proficiency in modern design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, along with use of AI-enhanced design tools.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, shifting priority environment.
• Excellent communication skills and openness to constructive feedback.

Preferred Extras

• Experience growing design teams, mentoring, and building design organizations.
• Background working with premium consumer, tech, or automotive brands.
• Basic knowledge of front-end development (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) to enhance collaboration with engineering teams.

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary is $160,000 per year, complemented by highly competitive equity and performance-based semi-annual bonuses.
