Role overview

A small, family-operated haulage company in Dublin 24 is looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant / Office Administrator. This is a permanent, full-time position based entirely in the office and is best suited to someone with hands-on bookkeeping, payroll, and general administration experience who can keep a transport office organised and running efficiently. The business owner and a part-time Financial Controller will both provide support.

Key responsibilities

  • Handle everyday bookkeeping tasks such as payables, receivables, invoicing, and general accounts administration.
  • Prepare payroll inputs, calculate timesheets, and run payroll through Micropay.
  • Enter accounts data, complete reconciliations, maintain supplier and customer records, and produce basic reports in Xero.
  • Manage day-to-day office administration, including emails, filing, data entry, document handling, and record keeping.
  • Maintain fleet-related administration records such as CVRT expiry dates, vehicle files, service logs, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist with tender paperwork, forms, and other business administration duties as needed.
  • Support the owner, Financial Controller, and drivers with practical queries related to accounts and office operations.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in accounts and/or administration, ideally gained in Ireland.
  • Working knowledge of Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or a similar accounting package.
  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping, including invoices, supplier and customer accounts, and reconciliations.
  • Previous payroll administration experience, including timesheet handling and data entry.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Well-organised, practical, and capable of working on your own initiative.
  • Strong spoken and written English, with eligibility to work in Ireland.

Work schedule and location

This is an office-based role in Dublin 24. Working hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:30pm, with a one-hour lunch break.

Pay and benefits

The salary for this position is €43,500 per year. Benefits include on-site parking and access to the Bike to Work scheme.
