Role Overview
The Admissions Counselor supports the university’s student recruitment and enrollment goals by delivering attentive, high-quality guidance to prospective students and their families. In this position, you will oversee a specific recruitment territory and work toward targets tied to inquiries, applications, campus visits, and enrollments.
You will serve as a representative of the university at both on-campus and off-campus activities such as college fairs, school visits, and visit days. The role also involves advising students and families on academic offerings, scholarship opportunities, study abroad options, and campus culture so they can better understand how the institution fits their goals.
In addition, this position includes reviewing applications, assessing academic records, and preparing recommendations according to university guidelines. You will also work within a CRM platform to record interactions, preserve data accuracy, and support outreach efforts through reporting and predictive insights. The role requires some evening and weekend availability as well as travel.
Student Recruitment and Relationship Building
- Act as the main contact for prospective students and families in the assigned territory.
- Provide individualized guidance on admissions, financial aid, scholarships, and academic programs.
- Build and sustain relationships with high school counselors, including regular communication about applicants and campus visit opportunities.
- Represent the university at school visits, college fairs, community events, and related outreach activities.
- Stay in contact with prospective students and families through email, phone, text, virtual meetings, and in-person conversations.
- Keep CRM records current and accurate to support reliable communication and data quality.
Territory Management and Events
- Track recruitment goals for the assigned territory, including applications, admits, and enrollments.
- Help plan and take part in campus events such as Preview Days, scholarship competitions, and information sessions.
- Organize and carry out off-site travel and recruitment visits while managing time independently.
- Invite key influencers, such as school counselors, to campus visits and special events.
Application Review and Enrollment Strategy
- Evaluate applications, transcripts, and academic materials using established institutional standards.
- Use historical trends, CRM data, and predictive tools to shape outreach and recruitment strategies.
- Match prospective students with the university’s programs and support resources based on their needs.
- Recommend admissions outcomes based on academic preparedness and university policy.
