Role purpose

The Executive - AGL position is responsible for assisting with the operation, upkeep, and servicing of Aeronautical Ground Lighting systems. The objective is to keep these systems available at all times, meet safety and regulatory requirements, and support uninterrupted 24/7 airside operations through reliable airfield lighting and navigation support.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled checks and routine servicing of AGL equipment, while spotting likely issues before they affect performance.
  • Support preventive maintenance work to improve equipment life and reduce unexpected failures.
  • Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance for runway, taxiway, and apron lighting systems.
  • Help diagnose faults, complete repairs quickly, and keep downtime to a minimum.
  • Verify that AGL systems comply with DGCA and ICAO requirements through periodic checks, and assist with photometric tests and PAPI calibration.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records and support documentation needed for operational safety.
  • Continuously monitor AGL performance, identify operational concerns, and work with the team to restore service promptly.
  • Respond quickly in emergency situations to bring AGL systems back online while coordinating with other maintenance personnel.
  • Follow all required safety procedures during maintenance work to protect people and equipment.
  • Recognize, escalate, and document hazards or potential risks linked to AGL activities.
  • Keep detailed logs of inspections, repairs, and servicing activities to aid maintenance planning.
  • Prepare reliability and performance reports to support better maintenance scheduling decisions.
  • Support the installation, testing, and commissioning of new AGL systems under the direction of the Lead - AGL.
  • Provide technical input for upgrades and modifications to existing systems.
  • Work with contractors and suppliers to arrange replacement parts and ensure repairs are completed on time.
  • Coordinate with internal teams such as operations and safety to align maintenance work with airport needs.
  • Liaise with airside operations, ATC, and related stakeholders to plan maintenance without disrupting airport activity.
  • Track essential spare parts and coordinate with procurement to replenish inventory as required.

Requirements

  • A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in operating and maintaining AGL systems or similar electrical systems in airports or industrial environments.
  • Certification in AGL systems is preferred, especially from ICAO, FAA, or DGCA.
  • Strong awareness of safety practices for working in high-risk environments.
