Role purpose

The position is focused on adding value to Ready-to-Wear by providing top-tier alteration services with strong quality, a polished client experience, and efficient turnaround time, while demonstrating CHANEL’s signature alteration expertise.

Impact in the role

As an Alterationist, you help deliver a premium fit experience for CHANEL clients. Your technical know-how, careful eye, and understanding of fashion ensure that every modified piece continues to reflect the garment’s original silhouette, appeal, and design language.

• Carry out alterations to CHANEL standards while respecting garment structure, proportions, and the original creative intent.
• Read alteration instructions accurately, plan the work methodically, and complete each piece with excellent finishing and presentation.
• Repair or replace garment parts without compromising the garment’s elegance or construction quality.
• Support client satisfaction through consistent precision and craftsmanship.
• Complete alteration work within agreed timelines while maintaining high quality.
• Keep tools, machines, and materials in good working order so the workspace remains ready for operations.
• Take part in boutique meetings and training sessions, especially those related to Ready-to-Wear.
• Work with Fashion Advisors and boutique colleagues to explain alteration work and support retail flow.
• Follow procedures, documentation requirements, planning steps, and back-of-house processes.
• Partner closely with Fitting Specialists throughout the alteration process.
• Coordinate smoothly with boutique and workshop stakeholders, including Fashion Advisors, Style Experts, Supervisors, and back-of-house teams.
• Assist teammates during busy periods and share knowledge and best practices where useful.
• Welcome feedback, stay adaptable, and keep building technical and fashion expertise.

Profile and experience

The ideal candidate brings substantial tailoring and garment construction experience, along with the confidence to work in a boutique environment that moves quickly and demands consistency.

• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in tailoring and garment construction.
• Experience in an international fashion house is a strong plus.
• Solid alteration and garment construction ability, with an understanding of fit and balance.
• A professional, discreet, and service-focused approach.
• Reliable, structured, and organized work habits in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong fashion awareness and pride in delivering the perfect fit.
