About the Role

We are seeking an Assistant Manager for Training within the Food & Beverage division for a prestigious five-star property in Mumbai. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the training function, aligning with divisional objectives. You will be responsible for overseeing all Food & Beverage outlet employees, reporting directly to the Director of Food and Beverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and lead regular meetings with Outlet Managers, departmental trainers, and the Training department to discuss all training-related matters.
  • Conduct regular audits to verify that all Food and Beverage Training manuals (DOM) are current and accurate.
  • Provide weekly reports to the Assistant Director of Food & Beverage on training development, suggestions, and any encountered challenges.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and updating of a comprehensive Department Operations Manual, reflecting current policies, procedures, work processes, and performance standards, with an annual review to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure all employees consistently deliver the brand promise and provide exceptional guest service, as well as excellent service to internal customers.
  • Handle guest and internal customer complaints and inquiries courteously and efficiently, ensuring satisfactory resolution.

  • Assist in developing a comprehensive annual Training Plan and review it quarterly with senior F&B management.
  • Conduct and document on-the-job training for new F&B employees.
  • Support the Training Department and F&B Outlet Managers in implementing and evaluating divisional training and development programs.
  • Monitor service and food and beverage standards in Outlets, working with Outlet Managers and Chefs to take corrective actions.
  • Maintain updated training records on the database for all Food & Beverage employees and ensure proper upkeep of all training documentation.
  • Work with the Training Manager to ensure a measurable Return on Investment (ROI) is achieved for all training conducted.
  • Assist in conducting monthly Departmental Trainer meetings and related activities.
  • Support Outlet Trainers in managing the compilation, implementation, and upkeep of their respective training needs.
  • Assist the Training Department in rolling out the bimonthly Newsletter (F&B section).
  • Oversee and assist in the recruitment and selection of all Food and Beverage employees using a competency-based approach.
  • Monitor employee punctuality, appearance, uniform, and grooming standards.
  • Maximize employee effectiveness through training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Conduct annual Performance Development Discussions and support employee professional development goals.
  • Assist in developing Departmental Trainers through ongoing feedback and monthly meetings.
  • Plan and implement effective training programs in coordination with the Training Manager and Departmental Trainers.
  • Oversee the preparation and posting of weekly work schedules, ensuring they reflect business needs.

  • Ensure employees understand and adhere to all hotel, company, and local rules, policies, and regulations, including fire, hazard safety, and security.
  • Provide feedback on Employee Engagement Survey results and ensure implementation of relevant changes.
  • Maintain knowledge of statutory legislation in employee and industrial relations.
  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with relevant representatives from competitor hotels and other organizations.
  • Respond to changes in the Food and Beverage function as dictated by the industry, company, and hotel.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.
