Role overview
ABM UK is hiring a Caretaker for its site at Yate Shopping Centre in Yate, England. This is a full-time, on-site position working 35 hours per week on a shift pattern to be confirmed. The pay is competitive.
The role is hands-on and physically active. It requires someone who is comfortable working outdoors throughout the year in a busy shopping centre environment. Candidates should also be prepared to handle a wide variety of caretaking and cleaning tasks across both internal and external areas.

What you will do
- Carry out routine caretaker duties, including litter collection, cleaning public toilets, and keeping service yards tidy.
- Clean indoor and outdoor areas through sweeping, mopping, and pressure washing.
- Keep public washrooms and tenant communal spaces clean and presentable.
- Patrol the shopping centre regularly, empty public bins, and sort general waste and recyclables correctly.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to ad hoc caretaker requests.
- Support the maintenance team with tasks such as steam cleaning, gutter cleaning, weeding, moss removal, painting, and event setup or takedown.
- Work in line with cleaning schedules and site procedures.
- Replenish cleaning materials when needed.
- Report faulty or damaged cleaning equipment to management without delay.
- Follow health and safety rules at all times.

- Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions across the year.
- Previous experience in a cleaning operative role or a similar position.
- Safe handling knowledge for cleaning tools, machinery, and chemicals.
- Practical understanding of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
- Strong eye for detail.
- Good organisation and time management.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
